CoNCERT Pharmaceuticals Strengthens Executive Leadership Team: Appoints Jeffrey Williams as Chief Business Officer, Promotes Nancy Stuart to Chief Operating Officer

LEXINGTON, MASS.— Concert Pharmaceuticals, Inc.™, the first company dedicated to creating novel medicines utilizing the naturally-occurring element deuterium, announced today the promotion of Nancy Stuart to the role of Chief Operating Officer and the appointment of Jeffrey Williams to the newly created position of Chief Business Officer.

Through focused execution on our R&D strategy, we have made notable progress with our pipeline of proprietary new chemical entities (NCEs) this year, and expect to enter the clinic with our first of several development candidates in 2008.”

In her new role as Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Stuart will be responsible for operations management, while overseeing a broad range of tactical, operational and development activities. She has over 20 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry and most recently served as CoNCERT’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Operations. Prior to CoNCERT, she held senior business and drug development positions in large and small biotechs and clinical development companies including Amgen Inc., Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Genzyme Corp. Ms. Stuart received her M.B.A. from the Simmons College Graduate School of Management and her B.S. from the University of Michigan.

As Chief Business Officer, Mr. Williams will be responsible for managing business development activities, as well as strategic planning and manufacturing efforts. He brings to CoNCERT more than 18 years of experience working in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry and most recently held the position of Senior Vice President, Operations and Manufacturing at Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Prior to Alexza, he held senior operations and business development positions at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. Williams received his M.S. from the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management and his B.A. from Brigham Young University.
